One of my favorite things about summer is the lake by our house. I can walk over put my kayak into the water anytime I feel like, and going for a paddle is a great way to wake up in the morning or unwind after a long day. It won’t be long before it’s too cold and the lake freezes over, so I am intent on going out as often as possible now that summer is coming to an end. This is a photo from yesterday when I went out with my cousin Carol, who was up visiting from Indiana for the weekend.

I’ve just wrapped up the second summer session of teaching mixed media classes at the Oak Park Art League, and now there is a break until the Fall 1 Session begins on September 10. (Register here for Experimenting With Mixed Media or Watercolor classes I will be offering on Thursdays and Saturdays.)

I took a few drawing classes this summer, too; Figure & Portraiture with Kathy Hirsh, and Intermediate/Advanced Drawing with Jesse Howard.  The simplicity and straightforwardness of drawing is refreshing after working on paintings with a bunch of layers and mixed media. See a bunch of my work from those classes below.

I will have artwork up at Oak Park Village Hall for the months of September and October. After a quick trip to Philadelphia this week I will be installing ten-twelve paintings on Friday afternoon. I will have some of my recent Lore paintings there, along with others from 2017-18.

Lastly, I am finally rebuilding my website. FINALLY. With lots of actual artwork featured on it! I am working on the staging site now to get it right before rolling it out. Technological stuff does not come naturally to me so it’s a big, slow endeavor, learning bit by bit.
