Studio day last Friday with my friend Jill Kramer, where she taught me tea towel printing with hand-carved stamps we made (jillakramer.com)

I never really intend to create only seasonal posts, but that has definitely been the pattern of my website updates for a few years now … so in the spirit of my history here’s another summer edition of what’s going on.

Summer classes at the Oak Park Art League continue starting next week with the Summer 2 session! Check it out here if you are interested in registration: oakparkartleague.org

I have a showing of new work coming up in August at CrossFunction, a downtown office and meeting space in Oak Park. I will have the whole front lobby to myself, which is exciting both because it is a beautiful old Art Deco building with so many exquisite features, and because I haven’t had a showing of my work in ages. I just haven’t completed a solid series in over a year, and this invitation was exactly what I needed to finally finish the series of eight pretty large paintings I’ve got going in my studio right now. It’s not really a show, and there will be no opening, but it is a great space to have artwork in and the owners are lovely people. I am looking forward to it, and to many days of quality time in my studio for the next month! I will post an update with the new artwork next month.

This photo of part of the lobby is from the last time I had a few paintings here as part of a group showing in 2020:

Lastly, this really doesn’t count as summer because I was there in May, but I got to go to Shetland again and I did lots of sketching, hanging out with friends and family, and sightseeing, including finally getting to see lots of puffins in person. A few photos:
