Hello Spring! The last few days of breezy, sunny, 60-ish degree days have me feeling so energized! It also helps that there are signs of covid restrictions loosening up, tennis can be played without masks, and I notice a lot of people have glimmers of hope about being able to enjoy each other’s company again soon.

That all said, my mixed media art classes and workshops have continued over the past several months, and I had my first two-day workshop in a long time over the weekend of February 27-28, Botanica, which I hoped would generate excitement about Spring being right around the corner. It was a really inspiring and fun couple of days.

The first Mixed Media Student PopUp Show is open now in the front windows of the Oak Park Art League Carriage House Gallery! Several beautiful pieces by current students in my Tuesday afternoon class. The opening is tomorrow night, Friday, March 12, 7-9:00 pm, and the weather is supposed to be lovely, making socially distant actually still pretty social.

Mixed Media Student PopUp Show at OPAL until March 20

Registration is open for an Open Studio Mixed Media Work Day this Saturday, and another on April 3, and the next session of Tuesday afternoon mixed media classes (March 23 – April 20).

Saturday afternoon I am installing about 12 pieces at Kettlestrings Tavern, 800 Oak Park Avenue, and they will hang until the beginning of May. My work is also up until the end of March at CrossFunction, aka The Boulevard Arcade, 1033 South Boulevard Avenue in Oak Park.

I am a member of a fantastic international group of women artists, all of whom I met while taking an intense online course back in 2017. We are having our first show, which is of course online, and the link to browse the paintings is here.

I have been working on a bunch of new paintings based on the Botanica arrangement I had in my workshop, as well as more seaside inspired pieces, a recurring, comforting, feels-like-home, theme that has run through my work for years. Both series are feeling very exciting to me right now, probably largely due to the warm turn in the weather, but likely also just because I am very happy with where they are going so far. Photos soon : )
