I am not quite sure the phase we’re in in Illinois reopening. Three, I think? (Phase Four officially starts Friday). My art classes and workshops started back up at the beginning of the month, with modifications of course. Class size is limited, there is a disinfecting protocol, and social distancing is observed. So far, so good! It’s so nice to be around people and create with them again! Mixed Media on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00-6:00 has two classes left this session, then the next session begins July 6. You can register here.
We had a great sketchbook workshop a few Saturdays ago, and I will be teaching a Farmers Market Watercolor Workshop this coming Saturday. There is just something so fresh about painting produce directly from the farmers market, and in this class in particular I emphasize loose and bright painting in watercolor for the first half. Students will have time to explore more detailed work in the second half. This is always a fun workshop, with the added bonus of fresh donuts from the OP Farmers Market. I think there is one space left as of this posting. You can register here.
The gallery at the Oak Park Art League is also open and has a fantastic Artist Member Show which will be up until the end of July. There wasn’t an opening reception and there aren’t any attendant events around the show, but it really is a nice show and you can stop by the gallery to take it in. Hours have been amended so check the website as they evolve with the phased-in reopening.
It is really exciting to feel hope that life will, if not return to normal as we knew it just a few short months ago, then be soon returning to a place where we can connect with each other more off-line than on. Cheers to health, happiness, and cautious optimism. XO
